Job Overview

The Regulatory Affairs Specialist ensures compliance with regulations by providing timely input to various teams (Product & Packaging Development, QA, Marketing, Procurement, Supply Chain) for new and existing products. The Specialist is expected to combine scientific and regulatory knowledge to help the business strategize and ensure products manufactured and distributed by Give & Go meet appropriate legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for label compliance on assigned Give & Go categories
  • Generate technical packaging information for new and existing products in compliance with Canadian, United States, and other international regulations as assigned.
  • Review label artwork for accuracy and regulatory compliance, providing final approval to the Marketing & Graphic teams.
  • Be an expert on customer templates and web portals for specification entries and assigned label reviews on portals.
  • Respond to regulatory questions related to formulations and all labelling information.
  • Maintain label review and claims verification schedules
  • Help develop proactive strategies to address regulatory challenges. Conduct comprehensive research to ensure a thorough understanding of regulations impacting the company’s portfolio.
  • Leverage scientific expertise to meet regulatory expectations.
  • Assess ingredients and product categories for compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Provide necessary information required to comply with food safety and other regulatory audit requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to monitor regulations and implement business solutions in response to external regulatory changes.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and enhancement of procedures and testing programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate cross-functional teams to ensure timely testing of ingredients and products.
  • Review testing reports to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and oversee subsequent communications.
  • Foster strong partnerships with third-party testing laboratories
  • Stay informed about new applicable laws and maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations affecting ingredients and products by attending courses, webinars, and utilizing regulatory agencies’ websites.
  • Participate in bi-weekly team learning sessions.
  • Inform the team of any emerging risks that may impact products, labelling and regulatory requirements.
  • Engage in consultations with regulatory agencies and assist in providing feedback on upcoming regulatory changes on behalf of the company.
The Recipe for Success
  • Completion of university degree in Nutrition, Food Science, or other relevant scientific discipline
  • Minimum 4 years experience in the Food Manufacturing industry
  • Minimum 4 years experience in a regulatory Affairs role
  • Working knowledge of HC, and FDA, and other international food regulatory agencies
  • Certificate in Food Labeling, Regulatory Affairs, or Food Law
  • Knowledge of Genesis nutrition software program
  • Results-oriented team player capable of working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with proven analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate (verbal and written effectively, along with influencing and negotiation skills
