If you are looking to take your law enforcement education into the working world, or looking to enter the field of corrections, this opportunity may be your next step.
You will supervise and escort detainees and perform detainee searches in privacy‑sensitive environments in accordance with CBSA detention standards and site‑specific security protocols. Physical searches must be conducted by a staff member of the same sex as the detainee, as required by applicable standards.

As a CBSA guard at Specialized facility, you will be responsible for exterior/interior patrols, room searches, escorts, pat-downs, and verbal/physical de-escalation as it is a tactical site and you will be working extensively with the vulnerable population.
- Ensure the protection of people, assets, and property.
- Escort people within the facility, using restraints to ensure the safety of everybody.
- Demonstrate empathy and compassion and a recognition that you are working with individuals under stress.
- Observe, monitor, and report on behavior of detainees.
- Conduct regular foot patrols - both indoor and outdoor facilities
- Monitor and properly utilize security software and equipment!
- Generate daily incident reports.
- Utilization of tactical training to de-escalate potentially dangerous situations.
- This work requires vigilance, efficiency, but also a talent for customer service and compassion as you will be working with people within a vulnerable situation.
- A valid and current First Aid/CPR certificate from a WSIB-recognized training provider
- Canadian citizenship or 5-years permanent residence status
- Minimum high school diploma from a recognized education provider
- Ability to pass a Public Works Clearance and a Vulnerable Sector Check
- Available to work flexible hours, in a full-time or part-time capacity.
- 1 year experience working in a vulnerable sector.
- 1 year tactical security guard experience
- Ability to demonstrate leadership capabilities.
- Experience working in a high-stress environment with quick responsiveness to emergency situations.
- Understanding of the importance of conciseness, security, and safety
