The Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences, founded under the name of Toronto Institute of Medical Technology, was created to respond to the educational requirements for health sciences professionals and for the continuing education of health care practitioners. A pilot program developed by hospital-based physicians and medical technologists in 1958, demonstrated the value of combining learning in an educational environment with clinical education in a teaching hospital.

Position: Part-Time Security Guard

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Hours: Saturday and Sunday )

• Be able to comprehend and demonstrate competencies of The Michener Institute and the Security policies and procedures with an ability to use a customer service approach
• Assist visitors, and employee during crisis and contact the necessary emergency services as needed
• Ensure that the property is safe by ensuring all security measures are functioning properly
• Enthusiastically conducts proactive patrols (exterior and Interior), and be able to address policy breeches, and note facility concerns.
• Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies in a timely and professional manner as not to create a panic amongst the public
• Ability to de-escalate a crisis, provide support and liaise with emergency personnel including; police, fire and paramedic resources.
• Handle Lost & Found items and inquiries
• Ability to provide first aid and medical response when required to any person
• Maintain positive and constructive relationships with The Client’s staff and external clients by providing timely and accurate support as required.
• Perform duties and tasks assigned by the Security Leadership team and respond to the directions of the client

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
• Proof of up to date immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step Tuberculosis skin test
• Must be willing to complete N95 Mask fit testing during the training
• English (oral/written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
