Position Summary

The Enterprise Safety and Security Director is responsible for leading the organization's enterprise-wide strategy to build, sustain, and continuously enhance a world-class safety and security culture focused on achieving zero injuries, accidents, and security incidents across Vantage's network of airports. This role serves as the organization's champion for safety and security leadership, human performance, risk management, and operational excellence, ensuring that safety and security are embedded in every decision, process, and behavior throughout the enterprise.

The Director will collaborate closely with airport leadership teams and operational departments across the network to foster a proactive, learning-oriented safety and security environment that protects employees, passengers, tenants, contractors, and the public.

Key Responsibilities Safety and Security Culture Leadership
  • Develop and execute a multi-year safety and security culture strategy aligned with the organization's vision of zero accidents, injuries, and security incidents.
  • Establish safety and security as core organizational values and operational priorities across all airports and business units, promoting a culture that encourages reporting, learning, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive leadership accountability for safety and security performance at all levels of the organization.
  • Ensure safety and security policies are enforced and comply with applicable federal regulations.
  • Lead enterprise-wide initiatives focused on behavioral safety and security, human performance, psychological safety, and employee engagement.
Leadership and Employee Engagement
  • Develop programs that enhance leadership visibility, communication, and accountability for safety and security performance.
  • Develop and oversee programs that encourage employee participation in safety and security initiatives and decision-making.
  • Lead safety and security culture surveys, focus groups, and feedback mechanisms to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Champion recognition programs that reinforce positive safety and security behaviors and achievements.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to strengthen workforce engagement and foster a culture of safety and security excellence.
Safety and Security Performance & Analytics
  • Establish key performance indicators and leading safety and security metrics that support proactive risk management and guide decision-making.
  • Utilize data analytics, predictive indicators, and trend analysis to improve safety and security outcomes.
  • Develop executive dashboards and reporting systems that provide visibility into safety and security performance across Vantage's network of airports.
  • Benchmark organizational performance against industry best practices and leading aviation organizations.
  • Establish systems that promote learning from incidents, near misses, observations, and operational experiences.
  • Lead root cause reviews related to cultural and organizational factors contributing to safety and security incidents.
  • Ensure lessons learned are effectively communicated and integrated throughout the organization.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree is an asset.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation.
  • 5–10+ years of progressive occupational health and safety experience, preferably within construction, manufacturing, transportation, or other operational environments.
  • Experience working within a highly regulated industry is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of safety management systems, regulatory compliance, risk assessment, incident investigation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to align safety initiatives with organizational objectives.
Skills & Capabilities
  • Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in complex or ambiguous situations.
  • Proven ability to navigate changing business priorities, drive process improvements, and deliver innovative solutions.
