POSITION

SUMMARY:

Knights On Guard Security is seeking an experienced, professional, and customer-focused Shift Supervisor to join our security team supporting the  Town of Whitby.
The Shift Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment while providing a high standard of customer service to Town staff, visitors, contractors, and members of the public.
This position will initially involve manual foot patrols throughout assigned facilities and areas.  As site operations evolve, the successful candidate may also be required to operate a company security vehicle for mobile patrol duties.
POSITION   RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct regular interior and exterior foot patrols of assigned Town of Whitby properties.
Monitor and control access to designated areas, ensuring only authorized individuals are permitted entry.
Verify identification, credentials, access permissions, and contractor or visitor information where required.
Respond professionally to inquiries from Town staff, contractors, visitors, and members of the public.
Provide a strong customer-service presence while maintaining security protocols.
Identify and report security concerns, hazards, suspicious activity, property damage, and unusual incidents.
Respond to alarms, security incidents, emergencies, and requests for assistance in accordance with site procedures.
Complete accurate and detailed incident reports, daily activity reports, patrol logs, and other required documentation.
Maintain communication with dispatch, management, Town representatives, and other security personnel.
Provide direction and operational support to security guards working during the assigned shift.
Ensure guards are following site-specific procedures, post orders, uniform standards, and company expectations.
Conduct shift briefings and communicate important site updates to team members.
Escalate significant incidents or operational concerns to the appropriate management personnel.
Assist emergency services and Town personnel when required.
Operate a company vehicle for mobile patrols when assigned and authorized to do so.
Perform other security-related duties as required based on operational needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence.
Minimum 1 year of previous security experience.
Previous supervisory, team‑lead, municipal, commercial, or customer‑facing security experience is considered an asset.
Valid Ontario G‑class driver's licence.
Ability to provide a clear and satisfactory driver's abstract.
Ability to meet the company's commercial vehicle insurance eligibility requirements, including being 25 years of age or older where required by the company's insurer.
Ability and willingness to operate a company vehicle once mobile patrol duties are introduced.
Strong customer‑service and interpersonal skills.
Professional verbal and written communication skills.
Strong observation, judgment, and problem‑solving abilities.
Ability to remain professional and composed when dealing with difficult or challenging situations.
Strong report‑writing and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently while also providing leadership to other security personnel.
Comfortable working with members of the public in a professional municipal environment.
