Position
Description:
As a Security Guard, you may be assigned to work across a variety of sites throughout the Toronto region, including healthcare, commercial/retail, and post-secondary environments. Please note that at our healthcare sites, we require up-to-date immunization records. If you do not currently have these records, Paladin Security will support you through the process during the hiring and onboarding stages.
Key responsibilities:
- Patient Watch and Observation:
Provide continuous observation of patients identified as requiring supervision due to medical, behavioral, or safety concerns. Maintain a safe environment, monitor patient activity, and promptly report any changes in behavior or condition to hospital staff. - Patrol Hospital Grounds:
Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits - Monitor Surveillance Systems:
Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities. - Access Control:
Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas. - Respond to Emergencies:
Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. - Provide Customer Service:
Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. - Conflict Resolution:
De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally. - Report Writing:
Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. - Enforce Hospital Policies:
Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.
Prerequisites:
- Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
- Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
- Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
- Valid G class Driver License
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Please be aware:
The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability - Legally Authorized to Work in Canada
