Support the modernization, management and administration of the OPS Physical Security Policy and Program by providing strategic security and policy guidance on issues related to the safeguarding and protection of OPS personnel, information and assets.
The Ministry of the Solicitor General is seeking one (1) Senior Advisor to support the Office of the Provincial Security Advisor – for the Security Operations Unit (SOU).
The Office of the Provincial Security Advisor (OPSA) provides diverse clients across the Ontario government with advice on threats and risks to Ontario government people, information and assets. This includes advising and supporting partner ministries and agencies on identifying emerging threats, conducting threat and risk assessments, and integrating security practices into business operations, facility design, procurements, and technology initiatives. It also includes promoting alignment with recognized security standards, best practices and guidance such as the American Society for Industrial Security International (ASIS), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and other relevant professional bodies.
As a Senior Advisor within the SOU, you will also provide Ontario government decision makers with advice, risk identification and mitigation strategies informed by open-source research assessments, engagement with federal, provincial and territorial counterparts, and information sharing with key internal and external partners.
About the job
As part of the team, you will:

Provide strategic advice and leadership on the governance, administration, modernization, and continuous improvement of the OPS Physical Security Program.

Support executive decision-making through physical security advice and collaboration with government ministries, law enforcement agencies, and external partners.

Conduct threat and risk assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend strategies to prevent and mitigate security and emergency risks.

Provide subject matter expertise and strategic advice on planning, design, implementation, and procurement of physical security measures.

Develop and deliver security related training and communication materials and presentations.

Independently research and develop briefing products on emerging issues related to OPSA's mandate.

Collaborate with unit and division colleagues to deliver results for complex problems/requests.
