Typical hours are 9:00 am-5:00 pm, about 40 hours a week. Requires some flexibility on evenings and weekends for events.

We are searching for an energetic, experienced program and volunteer coordinator for this full‑time management role reporting directly to the General Manager. You will meet with residents to assess recreational needs and interests, develop, promote and implement creative, innovative and meaningful recreation programs and special events based on the dimensions of wellness and residents’ needs. You will recruit, orient, train, assign and recognize team members, volunteers and co‑op students as integral parts of the program.

It is imperative to work closely with all team members and volunteers to coach a cohesive approach to running successful recreational programs and team meetings.

• Post‑secondary education:
  Diploma in Recreation Therapy, Recreation and Leisure or equivalent
• Proven related experience
• Prior leadership experience
• Valid G licence with clean driver abstract
• Current criminal reference check including vulnerable sector screen
• Smart Serve certification prior to start
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and technology

• Experience in memory care programming (asset)
• Certification in behavioral training courses such as GPA, P.I.E.C.E.S or Dementi Abilities (asset)
• First Aid and CPR‑C (asset)
• Leadership while motivating team members and volunteers (asset)
• Decision making and creative problem solving respecting residents’ choices and following policies
• Strong organizational, flexibility, coordination and planning skills
• Fostering good relationships and maintaining good communication with residents, caregivers, volunteers, team members and community partners
• Effective reading, writing and communication in English
• Caring and compassionate attitude while working with team members, residents, volunteers and external community participants
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and scheduled manager on duty shifts (one in eight weekends)
