About Us

Strides Toronto Support Services (“Strides Toronto”) is a multi-service agency supporting infants, children, youth and young adults from birth to age 29 and their families, primarily across east Toronto. We offer community-based, residential and treatment programs—including mental health counselling, autism services, early intervention, day treatment, education, outreach and community support—using a client‑centered, evidence‑informed approach. Strides Toronto serves as Toronto’s Lead Agency for Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health, partnering with 21 core service providers to coordinate service delivery and program alignment.

The agency also leads initiatives such as Help Ahead, the HOPE Strategy, One Stop Talk / Parlons Main tenant and the Provincial Youth Outreach Worker Program across Ontario.

About the Role

Existing vacancy for five casual Intensive Behaviour Therapist positions. The role involves working directly with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families to provide Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) in individual, small‑group, or mediating sessions focused on communication, behaviour management, emotional regulation, social/interpersonal skills, and daily living. Adjunct caregiver education skill‑building sessions are also part of the service delivery, which may occur in center‑based settings, telehealth, or community implementations such as schools, daycares, and homes.

What

You Will Do
  • Deliver direct behavioural services based on ABA principles to children diagnosed with Autism, including evidence‑based interventions, individual consultation, and group teaching services aimed at communication, behaviour management, emotional regulation, social/interpersonal skills, play skills, daily living activities, and pre‑academic skills.
  • Implement individualized skill acquisition programs to increase appropriate behaviour in one‑to‑one or small‑group sessions.
  • Implement and follow behaviour‑reduction plans to manage maladaptive behaviours.
  • Provide caregiver training using Behaviour Skills Training (BST) for clients’ skill acquisition and/or behaviour‑reduction programs.
  • Collect and track data on client progress during interventions and introduce new or revised targets as needed.
  • Complete administrative duties to ensure proper documentation as required by the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts, Behaviour Analyst Certification Board (BACB), and Ministry regulations.
  • Perform other duties required to support the clinical team and workplace.
The Must Haves
  • Degree or relevant diploma in Psychology, Social Services/ Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Work, or a post‑graduate certificate in Behavioural Sciences or Autism Behavioural Science, or completion of a 2‑week ministry‑approved training.
  • Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), and evidence‑based interventions.
  • Understanding of the Ontario Autism Program, including current and historical information, funding options, and impact on service delivery.
  • Schedule availability and flexibility for casual work.
The Nice to Haves
  • Fluency in another language(s) including sign language.
  • Knowledge of services provided within autism services and organization‑wide services.
  • Awareness of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) in the workplace and community.
  • Understanding of anti‑black racism, anti‑oppressive/anti‑racism perspectives and the social determinants of health.
  • Ability to recognize situations where power imbalances may create negative impacts.
