Join Covenant House in Toronto as a Street Outreach Worker, directly supporting young people facing homelessness. This role emphasizes relationship-building and immediate crisis interventions in various community settings.
As a full-time, permanent Street Outreach Worker, you’ll engage with at-risk youth, providing essential support and resources while maintaining a focus on trauma-informed and harm reduction principles. Your efforts will help young people navigate their immediate needs and link them to long-term assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform outreach in encampments and shelters
• Establish trusting relationships with youth in need
• Distribute basic resources like food and clothing
• Provide support during crisis situations
• Assist young people in accessing community services
Requirements:
• Diploma or degree in a related field
• 2-3 years of experience supporting at-risk youth
• Understanding of mental health and addiction issues
• Skills in crisis intervention and de-escalation
• Strong advocacy for youth-centred solutions
