On-Call Person

Position: On-Call Support Person at COSTI
Join COSTI as an On-Call Shelter Support Person, providing crucial assistance to individuals in need at our facility.

Your role will include managing admissions, conducting wellness checks, and ensuring services are delivered effectively.

This part-time, non-union position offers variable hours and requires hands-on support in an in-person role. You'll coordinate house rules, de-escalate crises, and manage client documentation, impacting the lives of those experiencing homelessness directly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle admissions and client intakes in the shelter

• Organize and distribute linen and welcome packages

• Execute COVID screenings and monitor client status

• Perform de-escalation during non-violent crises

• Document all services and client interactions

Requirements:

• Diploma in community work or equivalent experience

• At least six months in a shelter or respite role

• Strong communication skills essential

• Experience with refugee populations is an asset

• Valid VSS Police check and current First Aid/CPR certification
