Shelter Support Person; Part-Time

Position: COSTI Shelter Support Person (Part-Time)
Become a Shelter Support Person with COSTI and provide essential support to residents at our shelter near Highway 427 and Highway 401. This part-time role allows you to assist with admissions and ensure compliance with house rules.

Working on an on-call basis, you will engage with residents, complete necessary documentation, and respond to crises effectively.

Your role is pivotal in creating a welcoming environment for all clients while conducting health screenings and performing wellness checks regularly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate admissions and intakes for incoming clients

• Maintain safety by supervising COVID screenings

• Perform timely room and wellness checks on clients

• Respond to emergencies and provide necessary interventions

• Manage documentation and communication with clients

Requirements:

• Community college diploma in human services or equivalent

• 6+ months experience in shelter support

• Exceptional communication abilities required

• Understanding of homelessness and refugee issues

• Valid Vulnerable Sector Screening and First Aid/CPR certification
