Child & Youth Worker / Case Worker (Part‑time, Temporary)
Child, Youth & Emerging Adult Program (CYEAP) – Child, Youth and Family Services (CYFS) provides care and treatment to children and youth between the ages of 6 and 24. The Concurrent Youth Unit serves provincial youth ages 13 to 18, with potential up to 21, who have moderate to severe addiction(s) to substances and concurrent mental health issues. This position is part‑time, temporary (9 months) and located at 80 Workman Way.
Responsibilities- Reporting to the Senior Manager of Child, Youth & Family Services and as a member of an inter‑professional team.
- Providing client and environmental assessments, care planning, intervention and care delivery, and patient support toward goal achievement.
- Conducting family support and developing and facilitating groups and other programming.
- Supporting evidence‑based models of care such as Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
- Conducting behavioural observations, mental status and risk assessments, and understanding stages of development.
- Providing quality clinical documentation, engaging in effective communication and promoting positive working relationships with other team members.
- Performing crisis prevention and intervention, trauma‑informed care, recovery, and family‑informed care.
- Supporting client transition to other services, liaising with CAMH services and community agencies to coordinate care.
- Providing shift‑rotation supervision of Child and Youth professional students.
- Three‑year college diploma in Child and Youth Care.
- Good standing membership in the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Counsellors.
- Experience with concurrent disordered youth in a substance abuse treatment program.
- Strong skills in group facilitation, assessment, intake, individual support and working with families.
- Knowledge of best practice and evidence‑based addictions and mental health treatment models.
- Skills in Motivational Interviewing.
- Experience working in an inter‑professional environment with youth.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Cultural competence and ability to serve diverse ethno‑racial and cultural backgrounds.
- Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language (asset).
$32.36 – $38.68 per hour.
