Deafblind Community Support Specialist

Join CNIB Deafblind Community Services as a Specialist Intervenor to support individuals with combined hearing and sight loss in achieving their goals. Foster connections and guide them in community interactions.

As part of your responsibilities, you will provide tailored support to Deafblind individuals, helping them navigate their environments and access crucial information.

Your role will also involve promoting self-advocacy and community participation, ensuring clients lead fulfilling lives. Collaboration with clients will be key in assessing their specific support needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Offer dedicated one-on-one support in various settings

• Facilitate effective communication for informed decision-making

• Serve as a sighted guide for mobility and engagement

• Work together with clients to assess needed support

• Empower clients through educational and recreational opportunities

Requirements:

• Diploma or degree in human services preferred

• Familiarity with Deaf/Deafblind culture and health concerns

• Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills

• Eagerness to learn alternate communication formats

• Availability for flexible travel and hours
