13th Round is seeking an experienced and compassionate social worker with an MSW to support youth participating in our after-school boxing and life skills program in the role of Social Support Team Lead. This role combines direct youth support, family resource navigation, and leadership in developing the systems, policies, and best practices that guide our social support services. The ideal candidate is a relationship-builder who is passionate about youth development, understands community-based social work, has experience creating effective support systems within nonprofit settings, and considers themselves a dynamic worker who can balance diverse demands of the job (i.e. direct support, program support, and personnel/systems management).
The job requires on-site presence 3-4 days per week for shifts from 3 pm - 6:45 pm each day (exact schedule to be determined).
13th Round Fight for Life is dedicated to empowering children and youth to rise above adversity through boxing training and life skills development. By offering free programs that combine structured boxing training with intentional life skill activities that build resilience, confidence and healthy habits, we create a supportive space where young people can grow, belong and thrive. In addition to offering free youth programs, 13th Round also functions as a regular gym, with a standard schedule of classes for members, open gym, a competition boxing program and personal training.

Key Responsibilities- Build trusting relationships with youth and families.
- Provide short-term, strengths-based one-on-one support to participants.
- Manage crisis intervention and de-escalation with confidence, including adhering to best practices and procedures during incidents
- Connect youth and families with community resources and services, including mental health, housing, education, healthcare, and food supports.
- Maintain referral records, follow-up documentation, and participant support notes.
- Respond appropriately to safety concerns and child protection issues.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and best practices for the social support team.
- Create systems for referrals, documentation, confidentiality, reporting, and participant follow-up.
- Establish clear protocols for safeguarding, mandatory reporting, and responding to participant concerns.
- Provide guidance to staff and coaches regarding participant support needs and referral processes.
- Support training and ongoing implementation of trauma-informed, anti oppression and youth-centered practices.
- Supervise and support social work placement students, providing mentorship, field instruction, and opportunities for professional learning and development in accordance with academic program requirements
- Actively participate in the daily life of the program and contribute to a positive, welcoming environment.
- Support meals, including preparation, serving, and clean-up.
- Participate in group activities, social time, workshops, and special events.
- Collaborate with coaches, staff, and volunteers to support youth success and engagement.
- There are stairs to get to the program space and lifting/standing for long periods of time required as a part of the position.
