Become a Full-Time Unionized Overnight Shelter Worker at Nellie’s, where you will provide essential support to women and children in the shelter. Operate from 10pm to 6am, focusing on advocacy and crisis intervention.
At Nellie’s, a cornerstone in the Greater Toronto Area for over five decades, you’ll work in a 44-bed emergency shelter specializing in helping vulnerable women and their children. This role involves direct service, crisis response, and collaboration with case management to ensure client safety and effective service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure all intake and admission processes are completed
• Provide crisis support and information referral services
• Lead program facilitation and house meetings
• Conduct routine checks for health and safety
• Maintain organization of shelter documentation and statistics
Requirements:
• Post-secondary education in social services or similar
• More than 2 years' experience in crisis work
• Familiarity with mental health and addictions issues
• Proven background in social services delivery
• Ability to work designated night shifts
