Join Red Door's mission as a Shelter Support Worker, dedicated to ending homelessness while providing a safe refuge.
This role offers a full-time opportunity involving direct support, case management, and advocacy.
In collaboration with the Program Manager, you'll be responsible for providing crucial orientation and ongoing support to residents. Your focus will be on crisis intervention, maintaining shelter operations, and ensuring compliance with house rules. Shifts are rotating from 8 AM to 11:30 PM, facilitating diverse scheduling for your convenience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Handle emergency intake and orientation for new residents
• Monitor and provide feedback on resident behaviour
• Advocate for required community services and support
• Perform scheduled unit checks for cleanliness and safety
• Assist in maintaining household and medical supplies
Requirements:
• Relevant post-secondary education from an accredited institution
• 6 months to 1 year of community support experience
• Understanding of the social service system in Toronto
• Strong conflict resolution skills
• Initiative and teamwork capabilities required
