We offer several funded and fee-for-service programs at our two sites located in the East and North parts of Toronto, as well as at various community partners around the city.

THE

LOCATION:

Corbrook has learning centres in North York and Scarborough, as well as an Executive Office. This position will be required to work at the North York & Scarborough locations and off-site outreach on occasion. Hybrid opportunities are offered per performance.

THE POSITION:

The Employment Specialist will work as part of a team to provide participants in Corbrook’s employment support programs with employment options, improve their employment skills, and provide other employment-related supports. You will also work directly with employers to support your caseload and achieve required program outcomes. Coordinating, hosting, and attending events are part of the range of services provided to assist with workload based on priorities.

The Employment Specialist plays a key role in providing employment-focused solutions to the assigned caseload of job seekers across the GTA, assisting participants to achieve their goals of attaining and retaining meaningful paid employment. The Employment Specialist also develops partnerships with employers to identify suitable employment opportunities and assists with key duties, including maintaining accurate files in data reporting systems.

You will also have individualized targets to meet for your caseload’s success, which contribute to the entire department’s collective ability to meet contractual obligations with the program’s funder.

The Employment Specialist reports to the Regional Employment Manager. This position is a full-time role that starts with a contract for one year
, with an opportunity to obtain permanency.

MAJOR

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employment Coaching
  • Provide employment counselling and ongoing support to the caseload in employment-related areas to achieve their employment goals.
  • Provides effective job search and search readiness support services to clients on relevant topics such as developing professional resumes, job search strategies, interview preparation, credential assessment, language support, and other areas to help them achieve successful outcomes.
  • Guides and supports clients with completing employment applications, education (Better Jobs Ontario) and/or training opportunities.
  • Conducts timely follow-ups with job seekers throughout their job search efforts and provides repeat, one-on-one employment counselling sessions and supports as needed to review goals, address barriers, and ensure job seekers are making progress towards goals, including facilitating community-based referrals when needed.
  • Assesses and facilitates wraparound and intervention resources required to help job seekers address and overcome barriers that may prevent them from achieving successful employment outcomes.
  • Support job seekers to acquire a clear understanding of industry perspective and other information about the job opportunities to which they are applying.
  • Facilitates in-person and virtual workshops for job seekers on a variety of relevant employment topics.
  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
Case Management
  • Constantly monitor, track, and document caseload to achieve individual targets based on priorities.
  • Conduct intakes and complete individualized employment needs assessments for clients to establish their eligibility for services and pre-employment needs.
