Benefits Officer

Position: Full-Time Housing Benefits Officer
Join the City of Toronto as a Housing Benefits Officer, providing essential administrative support in the Rent Geared to Income Program. This full-time role emphasizes client management and compliance oversight.

As part of the Housing Secretariat, you will assist a diverse client community while managing a portfolio of households, landlords, and service agencies. Your key skills in rent calculations and policy application will ensure effective support and collaboration with community partners. This role is full-time and temporary for 12 months, working Monday to Friday, 35 hours each week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized administrative support to clients

• Review applications for Rent Geared to Income compliance

• Match eligible applicants to housing vacancies

• Communicate with landlords and resolve issues

• Maintain accurate household records in information systems

Requirements:

• Post-secondary education in Social Services or equivalent

• Experience with Rent-Geared-to-Income program administration

• Proficiency in client service in a diverse environment

• Ability to interpret legislation and guidelines accurately

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
