Barbra Schlifer Clinic Client Advocate

Become a Client Advocate with the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic, focusing on trauma-informed support for individuals in crisis. This full-time contract position allows you to engage directly with clients experiencing violence.

Your role will involve conducting assessments, implementing immediate safety interventions, and providing referrals for legal and counseling support. An emphasis on understanding client needs and effective communication is key for this position. Candidates should possess a background in social work or counseling and experience working with gender-based violence survivors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute prompt client intakes and assessments

• Facilitate development of safety plans when necessary

• Offer relevant referrals for legal aid and support services

• Record client information accurately in the management system

• Maintain follow-up with clients for ongoing support

Requirements:

• Relevant degree or diploma in social work or law

• A minimum of two years working with gender-based violence survivors

• Knowledge of anti-oppression frameworks

• Strong de-escalation and risk assessment skills

• Capable of utilizing client management software
