GIS Developer

We’re looking for a full-stack GIS Developer to help us build our City Connect iO Platform to integrate complex engineering, finance, and operations systems for manufacturing, infrastructure, cities and towns, and buildings and campuses that power real change. You will build a combination of FME Server Automations, FME Workbenches, and custom code leveraging the FME Platform and Amazon AWS tools, databases, and frameworks.

You might qualify in software engineering, geomatics, data science or computer science. You are passionate about data and coding to build our next iterations of the City Connect iO Platform. You’ll also be a friendly, driven self-starter who can work autonomously – we were always a remote-only operation, and the pandemic has only made our work easier to manage and deliver remotely.

Responsibilities

• Develop data integrations, ETL workflows, and automation using (primarily) FME
• Take part in business requirements gathering and design activities. Review client data and systems.
• Develop custom libraries, web services and applications using a variety of programming languages/frameworks and cloud technologies
• Create test frameworks to build automated tests for deployment to our codebase
• Provide estimates for the effort required to complete features in the feature backlog.
• Support our managed integration services, troubleshoot and resolve reported issues
• Highly desirable: Develop custom components in Salesforce using Lightning
• Highly desirable: Develop custom GIS Java script clients leveraging Leaflet or Open Layers that interface with ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, or the ArcGIS Platform-as-a-Service

This position requires the following certifications or combinations:

• Technical experience specific to spatial data analysis, spatial data management, or GIS software and services development
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, Geomatics or other technical domain, with specific academic training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
• 7+ years of relevant work experience
• An advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) or multiple discipline degrees are highly desirable, particularly in math, science, and engineering.
• Certifications in cloud infrastructure and Agile or Lean Six Sigma are highly desirable.

Required skills and abilities:

• API Integration or Application Integration
• API design and specification
• Integration technologies (Mulesoft, Talend, Snap Logic) - FME (Safe Software) is considered a plus as it is the platform we implement and build our products upon
• Esri or Hexagon GIS implementation or development experience
• Familiarity with current GIS technologies and formats, including Esri, GeoJSON, PostGIS, vector tiles, etc.
• Software development processes (Agile, SDLC, source control) and languages (Python, Java, C#, NodeJS)
• Strong knowledge of web service technologies and data formats (JSON, XML)
• ETL development, Safe FME platform experience and certification are preferred.
