Engineering Manager; Vendors/Contracts
Our client is an AI-enhanced Intelligent Spend Management platform for mid-market organizations. They are looking for a pragmatic and thoughtful engineering leader to build out and lead their Vendor and Contracts team
. This team is central to their product strategy, tasked with delivering a cutting-edge, AI-native vendor portal and collaboration features from the ground up.

The RoleIn this role, you will manage a team of software engineers and serve as a technical leader within the team's business domain. You will work closely with the Head of Engineering to grow technical leadership and further develop a highly engaged, high-performing team. This is a unique opportunity to build a new AI-native team, delivering key strategic initiatives at the cutting edge of modern software practices.
Responsibilities- Manage and coach a team of 4–6 full-stack, AI-native software engineers, fostering a culture of trust, technical excellence, and deep collaboration.
- Partner closely with the team's Product Manager and Designer to deeply understand customer needs and drive product success.
- Own the technical direction and long-term vision for the Vendors and Contracts team, ensuring designs are architecturally sound, scalable, and secure.
- Guide the team in building vendor portal and collaboration features using cutting-edge AI development tools (LLMs, RAG, etc.) and practices.
- Define success metrics, track progress transparently, and communicate proactively with stakeholders to ensure alignment and celebrate wins.
- Mentor senior engineers and team leads, actively supporting the growth of the next generation of engineering leaders.
- Work with Security, Platform, and Data teams to deliver robust, high-quality, and compliant software solutions.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a direct people management role.
- Experience building scalable, customer-facing SaaS products using Python/Django, Type Script/React, AWS, and Kubernetes.
- Deep understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG architectures, vector databases (Databricks/pg Vector), and agentic AI frameworks (Lang Chain, etc.).
- Strong experience with software design principles and a track record of evolving large-scale applications.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD, test automation, and building for observability.
- A background in the Fin Tech ecosystem or direct experience building products in vendor management, purchase orders, or B2B procurement.
