What’s the position?We're seeking a Senior Go Developer for a full-time, hybrid position based in our Toronto office. This role focuses on backend microservices development in a high-scale gaming and mobile application environment.
Responsibilities- Maintain, refactor, and enhance a large existing Go codebase to improve performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability
- Lead and contribute to strategic refactoring initiatives, including analyzing and restructuring legacy components to align with modern architecture and clean-code principles.
- Identify and reduce technical debt through thoughtful design and adherence to best practices.
- Evaluate system designs, propose architectural improvements, and take initiative in system redesign efforts.
- Own the complete feature lifecycle—from requirements and technical planning to implementation, testing, and production delivery.
- Collaborate within a cross-functional development team, supporting shared codebases and contributing to new and existing features.
- Participate in code reviews and mentoring to uphold high engineering standards.
- Consistently deliver high-quality work on schedule and make a meaningful impact on system architecture and overall performance.
- 5+ years of professional Go development experience**
- Strong understanding of Go concurrency patterns (go routines, channels, mutexes)
- Experience with HTTP frameworks (Gin preferred)
- Proficiency with SQL databases and query optimization
- Knowledge of Redis and caching strategies
- Experience with Docker and containerization
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
- Strong understanding of software design patterns and microservices architecture
- Proficiency with Git, testing methodologies (unit, integration, API), and monitoring/observability tools
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills
- Comfort giving and receiving constructive code reviews
- Ability to work both independently and in team environments
- Languages:
Go, SQL - Frameworks:
Gin, SQLX, Testify - APIs: REST APIs, JWT, OAuth2
- Monitoring:
Structured logging, observability tools
- Experience with gaming or high-traffic consumer applications
- Knowledge of performance optimization and profiling in Go
- Experience with real-time systems and event-driven architectures
- Familiarity with casino gaming mechanics or player engagement systems
