Software engineer - Senior Specialist

As a Senior Specialist Software Engineer reporting to the Senior Manager of Software Development, you'll play a critical role in designing and building complex production systems that power our technology platform.

You'll thrive in this position if you're a hands-on engineer who thinks in systems, values ownership and craftsmanship, and brings a collaborative mindset to solving challenging technical problems at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain complex production systems with a focus on scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.

Write high-quality code daily and own significant system components end-to-end, from architecture through production operations.

Make technical decisions that balance correctness, performance, cost, and business impact across distributed systems.

Identify architectural gaps and lead pragmatic improvements that strengthen system resilience and developer experience.

Elevate engineering standards through thoughtful code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship of peers.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

5+ years of experience building and operating production software systems in collaborative environments.

Strong ability to design distributed systems and reason through tradeoffs involving asynchronous workflows, messaging, and failure modes.

Proficiency in modern backend development using languages such as C#, Java, or JavaScript.

Deep understanding of cloud and containerization technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, message queues event driven workflows etc.

Experience with one of the major cloud platforms, like Azure, GCP or AWS

Clear communicator with experience navigating ambiguity and driving technical decisions in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing or operating multi-tenant, service-based architectures.

Exposure to systems incorporating AI-driven capabilities in production environments.

Track record of debugging complex production issues and leading system-level improvements.

The base pay range for this role is $104,000 - $148,000. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth.
