Schedule: M-F, core business hours – 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day
OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and people-focused Technical Engineering Manager to lead the delivery of modern digital banking platforms and cloud-native applications. This role combines hands‑on technical leadership with engineering management responsibilities, driving the design, development, and delivery of secure, scalable, and customer‑centric solutions.
The ideal candidate brings deep full‑stack engineering expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and experience delivering enterprise‑grade applications within complex, highly regulated environments. You will partner closely with Product, Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Operations teams to accelerate delivery, improve engineering excellence, and foster a high‑performing engineering culture.
Key ResponsibilitiesPeople Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of full‑stack engineers across multiple initiatives.
- Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
- Support career growth, performance management, and technical capability development.
- Create an inclusive environment where engineers can thrive and contribute to impactful business outcomes.
- Provide hands‑on leadership across the full software development lifecycle including architecture, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Contribute directly to system architecture, code reviews, technical design decisions, and implementation of critical features.
- Guide engineering teams in building resilient, scalable, and maintainable cloud‑native applications.
- Drive technical decision‑making, proof‑of‑concepts, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, compliance, and operational standards.
- Champion engineering best practices, automation, CI/CD, and platform modernization initiatives.
- Lead delivery of complex enterprise initiatives from concept to production.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, Cybersecurity, Operations, and peer engineering leaders to align priorities and resolve dependencies.
- Apply Agile/Secure methodologies to improve delivery predictability and execution efficiency.
- Utilize engineering metrics including DORA metrics and operational KPIs to improve team performance and software quality.
- Oversee application lifecycle management, operational health, and technical asset governance.
- Support production releases, incident management, and operational excellence initiatives.
Required
- 7 years of software engineering experience delivering enterprise‑scale applications.
- Strong experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
- Hands‑on expertise with:
- Java or Kotlin
- Spring Boot
- C# / .NET
- Type Script
- React
- Node.js
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Strong understanding of:
- RESTful APIs
- Distributed systems
- Microservices architecture
- Cloud‑native application development
- Experience with SDLC and Dev Ops tooling including:
- Git Hub
- Jira
- Confluence
- Jenkins
- Maven
- Sonar Qube
- Snyk
- Familiarity with DORA metrics and engineering performance measurement.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
- Experience in a Technical Engineering Manager, Engineering Lead, or Tech Lead Manager role.
- Background in banking, financial services, or regulated enterprise environments.
- Experience with:
- Web Sphere
- Portal
- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, automation, and cloud modernization initiatives.
- Experience implementing AI‑enabled engineering productivity tools or SDLC automation.
- Strong passion for coaching engineers and building high‑performing teams.
- Exposure to digital banking platforms or fintech ecosystems.
- Experience supporting large‑scale production environments and operational reliability initiatives.
- Familiarity with platform engineering and observability tooling.
