Senior Software Engineer; Node), JavaScript SDK
About this role
We’re looking for a seasoned JavaScript expert to join our growing JavaScript SDK team. You’ll innovate on cutting‑edge SDKs for Node.js, Bun, Deno, Cloudflare Workers, and other modern server runtimes. This is not a typical senior software engineer position – you’ll own end‑to‑end development, push the boundaries of developer tooling, and influence the future of JavaScript standards.
Responsibilities- Deeply own and evolve a wide suite of JavaScript SDKs, focusing on server‑side and edge runtimes such as Node.js, Bun, Deno, and Cloudflare Workers.
- Design, implement, and ship complete features, including robust unit and integration tests and crystal‑clear documentation for both our internal team and external customers.
- Leverage AI tools to supercharge productivity and focus on complex problem solving and value delivery.
- Represent Sentry in open‑source communities and committees such as TC39, the Node.js core team, and the Open Telemetry SIG, helping shape JavaScript standards and runtime interoperability.
- Collaborate directly with Customer Operations to resolve critical bugs and engage with the product’s vibrant user base on Git Hub and at industry conferences.
- At least 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer, web developer, or a similar role.
- Deep expertise in developing web applications, libraries, or SDKs using Type Script/JavaScript.
- Hands‑on experience with Node.js and meaningful exposure to one or more modern server runtimes such as Bun, Deno, or Cloudflare Workers, with a solid understanding of their module systems, APIs, performance characteristics, and deployment models.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Based in the Toronto, Canada area or willing to relocate to this thriving tech hub.
- Bonus: experience with Winter
CG, the Web‑interoperable Runtimes Community Group, or other runtime interoperability initiatives; familiarity with Open Telemetry instrumentation in server‑side or edge environments; history of contributing to or maintaining open‑source libraries; engagement with open‑source committees or working groups.
Base salary: CAD $200,000 to $295,000, plus equity grants, incentive compensation, paid time off, and group health insurance coverage. Eligible for Sentry’s employee benefit plans.
