Job DescriptionThe Market Risk Technology Engineering Team is looking to onboard a self‑starting, high‑performing Java software engineer. The role will help grow risk and valuation applications through design and implementation in Java.
Development Opportunities & Responsibilities- Migrating to a new cloud environment
- Building new and refactoring legacy applications
- Influencing the overall architectural direction
- Assisting in the evolution from batch‑oriented end‑of‑day to intra‑day processes
- Leading the development of crucial software components
- Mentoring team members on best software development practices
- Undergraduate degree or technical certificate
- 5–7+ years of Java experience
- Experience in the Spring tech stack and building microservices using Spring Boot
- Experience designing and integrating with REST APIs and gRPC endpoints
- Experience with messaging technologies (Kafka; ZeroMQ and Google Proto Buf are plus)
- Experience with Hadoop, Spark, Parquet or other Big Data technologies
- Proficiency with RDBMS and SQL
- Experience with Git, CI/CD toolset (Maven/Gradle), Jenkins and working in Agile environments
- Strong understanding of clean coding practices
- Experience with scalable, low‑latency systems
- Passion for simplifying and automating work to improve efficiency
- Strong communication skills and effective collaboration within a global team
- Experience working in a fast‑paced environment with PMs and business sponsors
- Knowledge of capital markets products, including derivatives and cross‑asset products
- Hands‑on experience with market risk, trade valuations, FRTB, VaR and stress‑testing processes (highly desirable)
