Job Summary
Our financial services client is seeking a Senior Technical Engineering Manager Digital Banking to lead delivery of modern cloud-based banking platforms using Azure, AKS, Java/Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs. This role combines hands‑on development with leadership of full‑stack engineers, focusing on secure, scalable, and customer‑centric banking applications.
Contract DetailsContract, Toronto or Waterloo, Hybrid (3 Days a Week on Site). Duration: ASAP – Sept 30 (High Chance of Extension).
Hours:
37.5 Hours.
Must have:
- 7+ years in software engineering delivering enterprise‑grade applications across multiple stack layers
- Hands‑on Java / Spring Boot backend development with RESTful API architecture and integration design
- Strong experience with Azure and AKS environments for cloud‑native application delivery
- Proficiency with Git and Hub, Jira, and CI/CD pipelines supporting software release automation
- Proven ability in leading and coaching engineering teams through hands‑on delivery and technical execution
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science
Nice to have:
- Experience in financial services or banking environments
- Background in mobile application development (iOS and Android)
- Knowledge of legacy middleware such as IBM Web Sphere or IBM Portal
- Exposure to platform modernization and AI‑enabled tools within the SDLC
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and drive engineering growth
- Lead, coach, and develop full‑stack engineering teams delivering digital banking applications
- Oversee software design, development, testing, deployment, and production support activities
- Contribute directly to architectural decisions and core code implementation when required
- Ensure alignment with enterprise standards in architecture, security, and compliance
- Partner with product, architecture, operations, and cybersecurity teams to drive program success
- Apply Agile or Secure delivery practices to optimize predictability and quality outcomes
- Support releases and maintain lifecycle health of applications within assigned ownership areas
