Senior Software Developer, AI/ML, Conversational Insights – Google – Waterloo, ON or Toronto, ON, Canada

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience testing, launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• 5 years of experience in Speech/audio, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or another ML field.
• 5 years of experience with ML design and infrastructure (model deployment, evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine‑tuning).

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross‑functional or cross‑business projects.
• 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.

Google Cloud’s software engineers build the next‑generation technologies that connect billions of users. We are looking for engineers who can bring fresh ideas from areas such as information retrieval, distributed computing, large‑scale system design, networking, data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design, and mobile.

As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google Cloud’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves. You will anticipate customer needs, act as an owner, and exhibit leadership while tackling full‑stack challenges.

• Develop and implement investigative tools for AI Agent performance.
• Design and build recommendation systems for AI Agents.
• Develop skill discovery and matching capabilities for AI Agents.
• Manage stakeholders effectively and solve ambiguous technical challenges, contributing to the overall strategy and roadmap for the team.
• Provide coaching to your team, and contribute to Google’s culture and operations.

Salary range (Canada): CAD
182,000‑187,000 (base) plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

Location:

Waterloo, ON or Toronto, ON – you may choose your preferred working location.
