Position: Quality Engineer I - Mainframe )

Perform hands‑on complex testing activities that include test design, test creation, and process support within a well‑defined functional area. This role focuses on designing and automating tests and creating or enhancing automation frameworks.

Responsibilities
  • Lead mainframe (COBOL, DB2, IMS, CICS) and API testing for small‑complexity initiatives.
  • Develop and implement effective test strategies, plans, and test design.
  • Build and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks (performance, readiness/reliability, accessibility, security).
  • Integrate automated tests into Continuous Integration (CI), delivery, and testing pipelines (CI/CD/CT).
  • Act as QE leader by providing direction, feedback, and support throughout development and design.
  • Collaborate with development teams to define and validate user stories, acceptance criteria, and Definition of Done.
  • Apply behavior‑driven and test‑driven development principles.
  • Lead proof‑of‑concepts (POCs) to evaluate emerging testing technologies (e.g., service virtualization, Dev Ops practices).
  • Adhere to enterprise quality engineering frameworks and methodological standards.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis, recommend improvements, and drive continuous process and performance enhancements.
  • Manage test assets, ensuring quality, compliance, reusability, and maintainability.
  • Mentor team members and share engineering best practices.
  • Communicate status and progress of testing initiatives to stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, related engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–5years of relevant experience in quality engineering, testing, or automation.
  • Advanced knowledge of mainframe testing technologies (COBOL, DB2, IMS, CICS) and API testing.
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining automated test scripts using industry‑standard frameworks.
  • Strong debugging, problem‑solving skills, and ability to investigate and analyze solutions.
  • Experience with test data management, service virtualization, Dev Ops tools, source‑code management, and monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of functional and non‑functional testing such as performance, readiness, reliability, accessibility, and security.
  • Familiarity with behavior‑driven testing (BDD) and test‑driven development (TDD).
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend new testing technologies and automation opportunities.
  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills in cross‑functional teams.
