About the Role

Hi I’m Abhik, Ashby’s Co‑Founder and VP of Engineering. Design Engineering at Ashby blends design and engineering work: creating high‑quality interfaces, prototyping, building shareable components, and translating design intent into production code that serves over 100,000 weekly active users.

• Redesign the mobile web app by conducting user research, wire framing new flows, implementing the design system, and turning wireframes into polished UI.
• Build a set of flexible, composable components in the design system to support consistent, beautiful setup wizards across the product.
• Improve the information hierarchy and scannability of designs for candidate assessment views so recruiters can quickly identify anomalies.
• Collaborate with product engineers and designers on bespoke design work, expanding and enhancing the in‑house design system.
• Actively contribute to shaping the UI and UX of a large‑scale recruiting platform.

• Junior Design Engineer – up to 2 years of industry experience; showcases visual taste and combined UI/UX and engineering skill on personal or professional projects.
• Design Engineer (Mid / Senior) – 2+ years of continuous experience as an engineer or designer; strong proficiency in both disciplines and a track record of shipping code to hundreds of users.
• Staff Design Engineer – demonstrated leading contributions to a design system and large‑scale product features, iterating with user feedback.
