Position: Senior Backend Engineer at Coinbase
Make a significant impact with Coinbase as a Senior Backend Engineer focused on Risk. Lead the development of systems designed to combat fraud and protect users' financial safety.

In this remote-first role, you'll join the Risk Engineering team within the Consumer & Business group. Your expertise will drive architectural decisions and optimize systems to manage credit and market risk efficiently. You will work on both proactive and reactive solutions, directly enhancing user security through innovative engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver complex risk platform features from start to finish

• Drive architectural decisions for scalable risk detection systems

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on proactive risk solutions

• Build AI-driven risk systems for automated detection workflows

• Mentor engineers and ensure engineering best practices

Requirements:

• 5+ years in backend software engineering, delivering high-impact systems

• Proficiency in Go, Ruby, Python, or Java

• Proven ability to translate ambiguous requirements into technical solutions

• Experience leading end-to-end technical projects

• Background in incident response and operational improvements
