Senior Software Engineer

The Engineering team at Nubank creates and uses the technology that powers our financial products. You will focus on software development with Clojure as your main language (we will train you). Key responsibilities include writing horizontally scalable microservices, high throughput jobs, CI/CD, data storage, monitoring, and Kubernetes.

• Develop horizontally scalable microservices written mostly in Clojure, using Finagle and functional programming techniques with hexagonal architecture.
• Build high‑throughput jobs and inter‑service communication using Kafka.
• Implement Continuous Integration and Deployment into AWS.
• Store data in Datomic and DynamoDB.
• Set up monitoring and observability with Prometheus.
• Run services on Kubernetes.

• Work with large‑scale distributed systems, understanding their broad architecture.
• Plan and execute entire features, collaborating with peers and planning ahead.
• Build microservices and work with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code.
• Practice agile software development.
• Write, test, instrument, document, and maintain code.
• Participate in code reviews and pair programming.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and partner Engineering teams to build new experiences.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and respond to incidents as necessary.
• Focus on backend applications, but be open to contribute to mobile and frontend development per business needs.

• At least 6 years of experience developing digital products.
• Ability to quickly understand technical and business requirements and translate them into technical design and implementation.
• Strong problem‑solving and effective communication across functional teams.
• Deep care for user experience.
• Proven understanding of object‑oriented or functional programming languages.
• Knowledge of distributed systems and familiarity with cloud technologies.
• Experience with agile software development methodologies, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
• Advanced English skills.

Base salary range: $147,996 - $185,004. Total compensation includes base salary, RSUs, and benefits.

Nubank operates in a hybrid model: teams collaborate remotely and periodically meet for about one week of in‑person sessions. Sessions are scheduled in advance with travel support when necessary.
