Associate Software Engineer – Toronto
Full-time, Toronto, ON; 20% onsite / 80% remote.
Salary: CA $80,000 – CA $120,000 per year (variable).
Responsibilities- Develop new solutions and features for engineering programs and projects within the assigned area.
- Perform unit and component testing for new application development initiatives aligned to business needs and technology architecture standards.
- Support business enquiries and activities through small enhancements, break/fix implementations, and peer code review.
- Collaborate with technology partners to ensure custom components meet application requirements and performance goals.
- Analyze technical requirements and recommend pragmatic engineering solutions.
- Ensure engineering solutions meet performance, time-to-market, and innovation goals.
- Document and verify system components, applications, infrastructure, security, and integration architectures.
- Participate in quality-management reviews of designs and prototypes.
- Maintain quality code, support testing cycles, and post‑production deployment.
- Provide technical expertise during incident management, analyze incident reports, and assess impact.
- Recommend development/testing tools to support project objectives.
- Assist in developing processes that prevent issues and resolve incidents in a timely manner.
- Strong academic background in computer science or engineering.
- 3–5 years of relevant software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python).
- Experience with unit testing, continuous integration, and code quality practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
- Good communication and mentoring skills.
