Associate Software Engineer

Associate Software Engineer – Toronto

Full-time, Toronto, ON; 20% onsite / 80% remote.

Salary: CA $80,000 – CA $120,000 per year (variable).

• Develop new solutions and features for engineering programs and projects within the assigned area.
• Perform unit and component testing for new application development initiatives aligned to business needs and technology architecture standards.
• Support business enquiries and activities through small enhancements, break/fix implementations, and peer code review.
• Collaborate with technology partners to ensure custom components meet application requirements and performance goals.
• Analyze technical requirements and recommend pragmatic engineering solutions.
• Ensure engineering solutions meet performance, time-to-market, and innovation goals.
• Document and verify system components, applications, infrastructure, security, and integration architectures.
• Participate in quality-management reviews of designs and prototypes.
• Maintain quality code, support testing cycles, and post‑production deployment.
• Provide technical expertise during incident management, analyze incident reports, and assess impact.
• Recommend development/testing tools to support project objectives.
• Assist in developing processes that prevent issues and resolve incidents in a timely manner.

• Strong academic background in computer science or engineering.
• 3–5 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python).
• Experience with unit testing, continuous integration, and code quality practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
• Good communication and mentoring skills.
