Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to support the development and scaling of a high-volume, data-driven platform. This role will focus on building and optimizing backend services, managing large-scale data pipelines, and improving system reliability and performance across a cloud-based environment. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in , PostgreSQL, and distributed data systems, with a hands-on approach to solving performance and scalability challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain backend services using and related frameworks

Develop and manage data ingestion pipelines that process high-frequency, large-scale datasets from external APIs

Optimize PostgreSQL database performance, including query tuning, indexing strategies, and load management across large datasets

Build and enhance APIs that deliver processed data to downstream applications and services

Manage and improve cloud-based infrastructure, including AWS services (S, EC, RDS) and containerized or PaaS environments

Implement robust error handling, retry mechanisms, and monitoring to ensure data consistency and system reliability

Address concurrency challenges related to scheduled/batch processing and high-volume workloads

Collaborate cross-functionally to support data-driven features and analytics use cases

Required Skills

years of experience building production-grade backend systems using

Strong expertise in PostgreSQL, including query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning on large datasets

Experience building and maintaining data pipelines, including batch processing and scheduled jobs (, cron)

Hands-on experience working with AWS (S, EC, RDS) or similar cloud environments

Experience integrating and managing third-party APIs, including handling rate limits, retries, and data normalization

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot performance and reliability issues in production systems

Preferred Skills

Experience with C /.NET environments

Exposure to Redis or similar caching technologies

Familiarity with mobile-driven architectures (, React Native-backed APIs)

Experience working with LLM APIs (, OpenAI, Anthropic) or data-to-insight pipelines

Background working with real-time or high-frequency data systems
