Playwright Automation Test Engineer
We are looking for experienced Playwright Automation Test Engineer to join our QEA team. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on expertise in automation frameworks, API and data validation, and AI‑assisted automation. This role requires strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to build scalable, reliable automation for complex, data‑driven platforms for our banking clients.
In this role, you will- Design, develop, and maintain robust Playwright‑based automation frameworks for web applications.
- Create robust automated test scripts for web applications and APIs.
- Ensure comprehensive test coverage for both frontend (UI) and backend (API, database) components.
- Perform data validation using SQL DB queries and handle medium to complex queries with ease.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high‑quality software solutions.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on testing progress and quality metrics.
- Overall 5 to 8 years of QA automation experience in enterprise‑scale, data‑driven systems.
- Must have 2+ years of strong hands‑on experience with Playwright automation.
- Minimum 4 years of hands‑on experience with Java‑based test automation frameworks (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit).
- Must have hands‑on experience in API automation testing.
- Must have ETL/Database testing experience.
- Git Hub Copilot experience is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of CI/CD integration tools and practices.
- Should be an individual contributor with good collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in data pipeline validation and ETL/ELT testing.
- Familiarity with AI‑assisted automation approaches (e.g., test generation, intelligent test maintenance).

The base salary for this position ranges between CAD 55,000 – 73,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business‑related and job‑necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance‑based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
