About the Opportunity
A public sector organization is seeking a Senior Front End Development Specialist to support a high-impact technology initiative focused on strengthening tenant protections and preserving rental housing stock. This work will help improve how residents, applicants, and internal teams interact with digital services through accessible, user-friendly public-facing portals.
In this role, you'll contribute to the design and development of modern front-end solutions, including workflows, interfaces, and registry functionality for licence applications. You'll work closely with business analysts, systems analysts, technical teams, and end users to deliver solutions that are practical, accessible, and built with the public experience in mind.

Your Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, implement, and document software components for client-facing applications
Build and enhance Single Page Applications using modern front-end technologies and leading development practices
Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements, shape solution design, and support delivery through the full development lifecycle
Integrate front-end applications with back-end systems using REST APIs, including JSON and XML
Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, including root cause analysis during outages or unexpected defects
Prepare and maintain technical specifications, architecture diagrams, user guidelines, and operational documentation
Participate in code reviews, QA and UAT feedback cycles, change control processes, and accessibility compliance reviews
Skills and Qualifications
7 years of senior-level experience developing Single Page Applications using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, Backbone, and React
Extensive experience with REST API integration, including JSON and XML
Extensive experience working independently on application architecture, integration, technical documentation, risk assessment, and QA/UAT support
Experience developing and maintaining large-scale information technology applications in multidisciplinary project teams
Experience building digital products that comply with WCAG 2.x AA, AODA, and WAI-ARIA accessibility standards and best practices
Strong troubleshooting, debugging, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills
Post-secondary education in computer science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
