Software Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Build elegant solutions for the property & casualty insurance industry’s complex business domain.
• Use AI-native coding approaches and AI‑assisted tools such as Claude Code or Git Hub Copilot to build, refactor, and extend services quickly and safely.
• Maintain high engineering standards, tests, and observability.
• Support PDO’s mission to embed GenAI across our products.
• Improve operational excellence and deliver secure, reliable, and scalable cloud services at scale.

• Minimum 2+ years of Software Development experience, preferably in SaaS or cloud solutions.
• Proficiency in Core Java and good working knowledge of the Spring framework.
• Experience with JavaScript, Type Script, or Python.
• Experience building microservices on cloud service platforms (e.g. AWS/GCP/Azure) – AWS preferred.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker and Kubernetes).
• Experience designing REST or gRPC based APIs.
• Ability to use AI‑assisted coding tools such as Claude Code or Git Hub Copilot.
• Good understanding of Object‑Oriented Design principles.
• Understanding of relational database persistence (e.g. MySQL, Oracle); familiarity with No
  
  SQL databases such as MongoDB or CouchDB is a plus.
• Strong grasp of CI/CD and Dev Ops principles; experience with tools such as Team City, Git‑based workflows, or Kubernetes is a definite plus.
• Experience with LLMs, Lang Chain, and/or AI patterns such as RAG or ReAct is a plus.
• Exposure to AI/ML development patterns such as prompt engineering or integrating AI services into production systems is a plus.
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Demonstrates expertise in Software Development with a focus on building scalable cloud solutions and microservices, utilizing AI‑assisted coding tools and maintaining high engineering standards. Proficient in Core Java, the Spring framework, and cloud platforms, with a solid understanding of CI/CD and Dev Ops principles.
