Sofware Engineer - Intern

We are looking for a Backend Developer to join our fast‑moving team, building highly concurrent, Java‑based server applications that directly impact ecobee’s success.

• Develop and maintain production features alongside the team.
• Participate in planning, scoping, and specification of new features.
• Perform performance testing, unit testing, and debugging of high‑volume systems.
• Work with best‑of‑breed backend technologies and techniques.
• Receive mentorship from experienced senior software developers.

• Current Computer Science, Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering student.
• Proficient in at least one of Golang, Java, C#, Node.js/Type Script, or Python.
• Comfortable running code on Linux‑based systems.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, or Heroku) and deploying code from review to production.
• Experience with relational or No
  
  SQL databases.
• Commitment to building stable, reliable services for 24/7 customer experience.
• Curious, thoughtful, and eager to improve software craft.

Work can be performed remotely, from the Toronto office, or in a hybrid arrangement. Flexible hours are supported and you can choose the schedule that best fits your needs.
