Amazon Lex Developer

Permanent Salary: CAD $100,000 to $115,000 per annum

Contract Rate: CAD $75 to $85 per hour

We are supporting a specialist customer experience and cloud consultancy in the appointment of an Amazon Lex Developer.

This role will involve working as part of the consultancy’s delivery team on a major end-client programme. You will design, build and enhance conversational applications using Amazon Lex, helping the end client improve automated customer journeys across voice and digital channels.

The role would suit a hands‑on developer with strong Amazon Lex experience who is comfortable working with technical teams, business stakeholders and contact centre specialists.

You will be responsible for:

• Designing and developing conversational bots using Amazon Lex V2
• Creating and configuring intents, slots, utterances, prompts, fulfilment logic and fallback journeys
• Developing AWS Lambda functions to support bot validation, orchestration and fulfilment
• Integrating Amazon Lex with Amazon Connect contact flows
• Connecting conversational applications with APIs, CRM platforms, databases and other enterprise systems
• Developing effective escalation and hand-off journeys from automated services to live contact centre agents
• Testing conversational flows across voice, chat and DTMF interactions
• Analysing unsuccessful conversations, missed utterances and fallback activity to improve bot performance
• Monitoring and troubleshooting solutions using AWS services such as Cloud Watch
• Working closely with solution architects, business analysts and customer experience teams
• Producing clear technical documentation, deployment instructions and support materials
• Supporting solutions through development, testing, deployment and production support

• Commercial experience designing and developing solutions using Amazon Lex, ideally Amazon Lex V2
• Experience integrating Amazon Lex with Amazon Connect
• Strong hands‑on experience with AWS Lambda
• Experience integrating REST APIs, web services and enterprise applications
• A good understanding of conversational design, natural language understanding, intents, slots and fulfilment
• Experience building customer‑facing chatbots, voicebots, IVR or conversational AI solutions
• Knowledge of AWS services such as API Gateway, Cloud Watch, IAM, DynamoDB and S3
• Strong testing, debugging and problem‑solving skills
• The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders

• Amazon Bedrock or other generative AI services
• Contact centre transformation or CCaaS programmes
• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Cloud Formation
• CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
• CRM or customer service platform integrations
• Multilingual conversational applications
• Agile consultancy or client‑facing delivery environments
