Our public sector client is seeking a Senior Solution Architect to build a strategic modernization roadmap using distributed systems, microservices architecture, and enterprise integration patterns

Calgary-based office, Candidates can be % remote in Canada working MST hours. 37.5 hour work week

Must Haves

  • 10+ years as a Solution Architect with a focus on building astrategic technology roadmap with Microservices
  • 10+ years in system integration and enterprise integration patterns
  • 8+ years designing distributed systems and supporting complex programs and projects
  • 8+ years in software development and creating architecture models using architecture tools
  • 10+ years presenting architecture findings and implementation recommendations to clients

    • Nice to Have

  • Experience in data integration, data models, data standards, information architecture, and application architecture
  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture frameworks and reference models including Open Group and architecture patterns
  • Knowledge of CAP theorem, eventual consistency, consensus algorithms, and distributed transactions
  • Experience with REST, gRPC, messaging, event-driven communication, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Previous experience in the public sector or large organizations

    • Responsibilities

  • Assess the current application landscape and identify modernization opportunities
  • Evaluate and recommend architecture approaches including microservices, modular monolith, hybrid, or incremental modernization
  • Develop target-state architectures and strategic modernization roadmaps
  • Lead domain modeling and enterprise application design activities
  • Identify and mitigate architectural, technical, and operational risks
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive architecture decisions and define service communication, data management, and deployment patterns
  • Deliver architecture assessments, recommendations, and executive-level guidance to support strategic planning
