This Role is Hybrid in Toronto, ON (2 days per week). This Opportunity is Full-time. This opportunity is with a fast-growing software company building a real-time customer engagement platform used by some of the world's largest media organizations, sports leagues, and enterprise brands. Their platform enables millions of users to interact through live conversations, AI-powered moderation, personalization, and community experiences while operating on highly scalable, event-driven backend infrastructure.

This is a senior backend engineering opportunity focused on building and scaling the distributed systems that power a real-time engagement platform serving millions of users globally. You'll work on high-throughput services responsible for processing large volumes of events, improving platform reliability, and building cloud-native applications that can scale as customer adoption continues to grow.

The engineering team values clean architecture, ownership, and collaboration. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex distributed systems challenges, working with modern infrastructure, and contributing to long-term platform strategy while remaining highly hands-on.

• Strong experience building backend applications using Java
• Experience developing microservices and distributed systems
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments
• Experience building event-driven systems using Kafka
• Strong understanding of scalable system design, performance, and reliability
• Experience working with relational databases and RESTful APIs

• Experience with Scala, Go, or Node.js
• Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS or similar cloud platforms
• Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and production troubleshooting
• Experience working within Agile engineering teams
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

• Designing and developing scalable backend services in Java
• Building and maintaining event-driven microservices using Kafka
• Deploying and operating applications within Kubernetes environments
• Improving platform reliability, scalability, and performance
• Collaborating with Product, Infrastructure, and Engineering teams to deliver new platform capabilities
• Participating in architectural discussions and technical design decisions

• Base Salary ranges from $130K to $175K + Bonus and Comprehensive Benefits.
