This is a remote role initially, with plans to transition to a hybrid work environment at our downtown Toronto office located at 134 Peter Street, working in-office twice a week. As a Staff Frontend Engineer within the Availability Planning & Experiences team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the core features that define restaurant operational setups globally. Your work will directly impact how restaurant partners set shifts, optimize table layouts, and create unique dining experiences.

You will be a technical leader, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale frontend systems using React, Type Script, and related technologies. Your expertise will influence both user experience and system architecture, ensuring scalable, maintainable, and high-quality solutions. This role offers a unique balance of autonomy and ownership, allowing you to contribute to strategic decisions while executing complex technical challenges, ultimately helping restaurants thrive and delivering exceptional experiences to diners worldwide.

• 7+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on frontend applications
• Deep proficiency in JavaScript, Type Script, React, Redux, and Node.js
• Experience in designing and implementing scalable, maintainable frontend architectures
• Proven track record of leading large-scale projects from conception to production
• Strong understanding of automated testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, and Cypress
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams
• Experience collaborating with designers using tools like Figma
• Ownership mindset with a passion for code quality, best practices, and continuous improvement
• Ability to work effectively in a remote or hybrid environment, managing priorities and deadlines

Responsibilities

• Write, review, and maintain mission-critical frontend code utilizing React, Type Script, and Java Script
• Define and implement the technical vision for the Availability Planning system, ensuring scalability and usability
• Design and develop reusable UI components and abstractions that enhance system performance and maintainability
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver high-quality features
• Drive architectural decisions, ensuring the frontend architecture can handle complex operational workflows
• Implement rigorous testing strategies to ensure high standards of quality and reliability
• Mentor team members, elevate coding standards, and promote best practices across the engineering team
• Participate in planning, design reviews, and technical discussions to influence product development
• Maintain awareness of industry trends and incorporate innovative solutions into the development process
