Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. We’re looking for a Lead Developer (Java/Angular) who is highly opinionated and has experience building large systems.

We need a Lead Developer who is willing to own a part of our system, lead the team on initiatives, design scalable systems, and deliver high-quality code. We have a mature software delivery team and process including a streamlined CI/CD pipeline and automated testing. We are microservice based, container-deployed (Open Shift Container Platform) and rapidly modernizing, giving developers access to the latest hardware (Macbook Pros) and software (IntelliJ, Visual Studio, Windsurf etc).

You will be the technical lead within one of our 20+ squads working together in SaFe (Agile at scale) to deliver major enhancements every month.

This will be a hybrid role (2 days in office per week) with the primary location being in downtown Toronto.

• Serve as Tech Lead within the Product Trio (Product Owner, UX and Tech Lead) to lead initiatives within a squad, driving features from PI Planning to production.
• Design and evolve our Broker Experience Ecosystem to meet customers’ needs by designing solutions to complex problems.
• Own production stability for your domain and take part in production support activities – troubleshooting, optimizing performance issues, and identifying fixes.
• Contribute to a strong engineering culture in our Toronto office — through mentorship, code reviews, and leading by example.
• Guide, mentor and coach developers within your squad.
• AI DLC - Leverage best-in-class AI tools such as Devin and Cursor to enhance productivity.

• Degree in Computer engineering, science or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
• 8+ years of software design and development experience.
• Strong understanding of Service-Oriented and Microservice Architecture.
• Strong command of software design patterns, and a good understanding of UX design principles.
• Solid working knowledge of frontend technologies:
  JavaScript, Type Script, Angular, HTML, CSS
