Software Engineer Senior Specialist

As a Software Engineer, Senior Specialist reporting to AVP, Software Engineering, you'll play a critical role in designing and delivering high-performance, low-latency back-end solutions that power Nasdaq's North American and European markets.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain low-latency, real-time back-end applications that support critical equities and options market infrastructure.

Own the full software development lifecycle — from requirements and design through testing, deployment, and production support.

Partner with product managers and cross-functional teams globally to translate business needs into reliable, high-quality software solutions.

Conduct code reviews and contribute to design discussions, upholding engineering standards and best practices.

Document software functionality and support ongoing maintenance to ensure system stability and performance.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

8+ years of experience as a back-end software engineer, with strong proficiency in Java and Springboot.

Solid experience with RESTful APIs, relational databases, and microservices architecture.

Familiarity with build, version control, and continuous integration and delivery practices.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a dynamic, production environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Kotlin or other JVM-based languages.

Background in cloud infrastructure or container-based deployment environments.

Prior exposure to financial markets, fintech, or regulated technology environments.

The base pay range for this role is $104,000 - $148,000. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth.
