Senior Automation Engineer (API Testing + Rest assured

Position: Senior Automation Engineer (API Testing + Rest assured)
We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to join our QEA Team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in Java-Selenium and Rest Assured API automation testing. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing robust test automation frameworks for both web applications and complex  this role, you will Build and maintain API automation frameworks from scratch.

Design, develop and maintain automated test scripts using Java,TestNG and Selenium/Playwright.

Develop and execute comprehensive automated test scripts for RESTful APIs using REST Assured.

Ensure deep functional, integration, and regression test coverage across both frontend (UI) and backend (API) layers.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Ensure timely delivery of automation test coverage as part of Agile sprints.

Apply your understanding of Generative AI platforms to test AI-driven features or utilize AI tools to optimize the testing lifecycle.

Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on testing progress and quality metrics.

Required skills

Must have 8+ years of professional software testing experience with a strong emphasis on test automation.

Deep understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles, test design patterns (e.g., Page Object Model), and modular framework construction.

Minimum 5 years of Hands-on experience with Java-based test automation frameworks (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit).Must have 2+ years of exp. in API Automation Test using Rest Assured.

Solid understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, authentication, and JSON/XML.Experience developing automation frameworks independently.

Knowledge of CI/CD integration tools and practices.

Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile methodologies.

Preferred skills

Experience in Banking Domain.

Git Hub Copilot experience is highly preferred.

Total compensation  We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD 70,000 – 90,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for the company’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
Working arrangements  We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 4 days a week in a the company or client office in Toronto.
