Senior Frontend Engineer
You’ll lead major modernization work streams — migrating complex legacy web applications into a modern Microfront end ecosystem, creating repeatable migration patterns and shared foundations other teams can build on — while ensuring performance, developer experience, and user impact stay high throughout the transition.

This is a hands‑on role with broad influence: you’ll ship production‑critical frontend code, define patterns and boundaries that other teams build on, and partner cross‑functionally to make architectural change practical and durable.

Following the Web Modernization effort, you will work on a product team to build product features that help publishers upload their documents to Scribd and readers consume these documents.

6+ years of professional frontend software engineering experience

Deep experience with JavaScript/Type Script and React

Hands‑on experience with Next.js or similar modern web frameworks

Familiarity with Microfront end architectures, monorepos, or shared frontend platforms

Strong understanding of web performance, bundling, and optimization techniques

Experience collaborating with backend and platform teams to define clean integration patterns

Comfort operating in environments with high traffic, high visibility, and real user impact

Comfortable working in a codebase with shared patterns (monorepos, shared UI libraries, or platform constraints) and collaborating across teams

Excellent written and verbal communication; thrives in a remote, documentation‑driven culture

Highly collaborative: partners closely with product, design, and backend to deliver end‑to‑end features

Nice to have

Experience working with or migrating large, complex, or legacy frontend codebases

You’ve helped modernize frontend systems in production, not just greenfield projects

You think about frontend architecture as a product for other engineers, not just a delivery mechanism
