Job SummaryCogency Inc. is seeking an experienced Node.js Developer to join a leading Banking and Financial Services client in Toronto.
This role requires close collaboration with UX designers, backend developers, architects, QA teams, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable enterprise applications using Agile methodologies.
Key Responsibilities Frontend Development- Develop responsive, scalable, and user-friendly web applications using React.js or Angular .
- Build reusable UI components following modern frontend architecture principles.
- Implement responsive layouts using HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, and modern CSS frameworks.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to deliver intuitive user experiences.
- Develop backend-for-frontend (BFF) services using Node.js.
- Build lightweight REST APIs to support frontend applications.
- Integrate frontend applications with enterprise APIs and backend services.
- Implement authentication, authorization, and secure API communication.
- Consume and integrate RESTful APIs.
- Handle JSON/XML data transformations.
- Implement API error handling and retry mechanisms.
- Collaborate with backend teams to define API contracts.
- Support API testing using Postman or similar tools.
- Participate in application design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Write clean, maintainable, and reusable code following coding standards.
- Perform unit testing and support integration testing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
- Participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Work with Git for version control.
- Participate in CI/CD implementation using Git Hub Actions, Azure Dev Ops, or Jenkins.
- Support automated deployments and release management.
- Collaborate with Dev Ops teams on deployment automation and monitoring.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
- Work closely with business analysts, architects, QA engineers, and product owners.
- Estimate development effort and contribute to sprint planning.
- Deliver high-quality software within Agile delivery timelines.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in frontend application development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Node.js .
- Strong experience with React.js or Angular .
- Proficiency in:
- Type Script
- HTML5
- CSS3
- Experience building responsive web applications.
- Experience consuming RESTful APIs.
- Experience with Git and source code management.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience with Next.js or Express.js.
- Experience with Redux, NgRx, or other state management frameworks.
- Knowledge of Node.js middleware and Express.js.
- Experience with GraphQL.
- Familiarity with Web Sockets or real-time messaging.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Exposure to automated testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, or Jasmine.
- Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, and OpenID Connect.
- Experience with Sonar Qube and CI/CD pipelines.
Candidates with Banking or Financial Services experience will be highly preferred.
