The salary range for this position is CAD $96,. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

What the day will look like

  • Design, develop, and maintain

    Python tools, libraries, and frameworks that support Path Wise actuarial and financial modelling, including standard templates and reusable components.
  • Build and enhanceautomation solutions for model implementation and Dev Ops processes, simplifying workflows for modelling actuaries and other non-developer users.
  • Contribute to the development of thePathWise Python modelling layer, including standard classes and templates used to orchestrate models, control data flows, and perform ETL-style processing.
  • Develop and maintain

    Azure Dev Ops pipelines, utilities, and engineering tools that improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability of Path Wise-related solutions.
  • Apply and promote software quality practices, including maintainable design, unit testing, code reviews, and use of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Partner with actuarial, technology, and business teams to understand requirements, solve complex challenges, and deliver practical, well-engineered solutions.
  • Contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle in an Agile environment.

As a Python Developer, you will play a key role in shaping the tooling, frameworks, and Dev Ops practices that underpin next-generation Aon Life Solutions products. You will collaborate with global teams to bring ideas from concept to production while helping define how Path Wise models are built, managed, and automated.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience developing software products, tools, or applications using Python.
  • Experience building maintainable, tested, production-quality Python applications or libraries.
  • Strong proficiency in Python; experience with libraries such as Num Py, Pandas, and Sci Py is an asset.
  • Familiarity with unit testing, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and software quality practices.
  • Hands-on experience working within Dev Ops processes, including implementing or managing automated build, test, and deployment workflows (e.g., in Azure Dev Ops).
  • Experience working in Agile environments and across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Azure Dev Ops, Jira, Confluence, and Git.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across actuarial, technology, and business teams.
  • Experience in actuarial, financial services, insurance, or quantitative modelling environments is an asset.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies, High-Performance Computing (HPC), automation tools, or AI/ML is beneficial but not required.
