Reporting to the Manager, E-Commerce, the Full Stack Developer, E-Commerce for Bed Bath & Beyond is responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining our enterprise Direct-to-Consumer digital storefronts. This role combines core front-end and back-end e-commerce software engineering with standard e-commerce practices including payment gateway integrations, order and inventory system connectivity, web analytics tracking, site speed optimization, and conversion rate optimization.
In this role you will:
Develop and optimize custom themes, storefront components, and app integrations on enterprise platforms (e.g., Shopify Plus). Implement secure checkout workflows, dynamic cart logic, and payment gateway integrations (e.g., Apple Pay, Pay Pal, Klarna, credit card processing) adhering to PCI-DSS standards.
Design, build, and maintain robust API integrations between the online store and enterprise back-end systems, including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Product Information Management (PIM), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and Order Management Systems (OMS) for real-time inventory, pricing, and order synchronization.
Continuously monitor and improve Core Web Vitals, page load speeds, and technical efficiency using best practices such as code splitting, asset compression, lazy loading, and caching strategies to ensure high-traffic stability.
Implement and manage web tracking infrastructure (Google Tag Manager, GA4), advertising/retargeting pixels, and third-party marketing integrations to guarantee accurate data collection and attribution.
Collaborate with marketing and product teams to design, build, and deploy A/B test variations, custom promotional landing pages, and interactive site features designed to improve user journey metrics and drive conversion rates.
Ensure site UI/UX is fully responsive across mobile, tablet, and desktop environments, and strictly compliant with accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA) and enterprise technical SEO principles.
Conduct regular site maintenance, security audits, plugin testing, and software updates. Rapidly diagnose and resolve technical defects, broken workflows, or data sync errors to maximize site uptime and revenue reliability.
Advanced technical proficiency in modern web stacks (JavaScript/ES6+, Liquid/HTML/CSS, REST/GraphQL APIs, Node.js/modern frameworks).
Work alongside E-Commerce Managers, Site Merchandisers, Digital Marketers, and UX/UI Designers to support seasonal campaigns, promotional rollouts, and feature launches.
Conduct multi-device and cross-browser testing, code reviews, and post-deployment monitoring to maintain seamless user experiences across all digital touchpoints.
The Qualifications and Experience we like to see:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Web Development, or equivalent.
3+ years of proven experience as a Full-Stack Developer
Experience in responsive web design and mobile optimization
Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, Git version control, and Shopify CLI tool chains.
Proven experience implementing server-side tracking, custom GA4/GTM data layers, and third-party marketing pixels.
Working knowledge of enterprise ERP/PIM/OMS system integrations using REST, GraphQL, and webhooks (e.g., Fulfill.io, Net Suite, SAP).
Experience working with high-volume Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) or enterprise retail brands is an asset.
Excellent understanding of UX/UI design principles
Ideal candidate would have official Shopify Developer certifications (e.g., Shopify Web Developer Certification).
Familiarity with network, server, and web application security principles and best practices is an asset
